Mediumship

by Lana Farley, MPI Student

Did you know that mediumship is a condition that is not dependent upon morality? The character of the intelligence which communicates directly depends upon the working vibration level of the medium. The higher the vibration of the medium, the higher and more developed the entities will be that are attracted to them.

When developing mediumship there is a lot of responsibility to be considered, ignorance of the laws of nature that control the phenomena: the Law of Vibration, The Law of Nature, the Law of Cause and Effect. There are two types of mediumship: mental and physical. The difference in them is the quality of vibrational rates. A mental phenomenon depends upon the impressibility of the mind of the medium while physical phenomena depend upon the chemical reaction of the body.

Mental mediumship stems from the base of the brain which is centered in the cerebrospinal nervous system where all conscious actions are controlled. There is a great responsibility to the person who undertakes to become a strong medium. Much study has been done on this subject. Mediums need to consider their physical, mental and spiritual health as they are all very important due to the energy that is needed to be a well developed medium.

A statement I recently read about mediums on this subject stayed with me. Mediums have found (to their physical detriment) that sometimes producing phenomena is or can be at times exhausting. The results can be a nervous condition; insomnia and/or depression may occur if the medium does not take good physical care of themselves.

Many of you who have visited our church have witnessed one of our mediums needing to sit down immediately after doing message work. When the spirit has been too close while the messages were being given and the spirit leaves the medium, energy is used leaving the medium somewhat shaky and depleted for a short while.

Mediumship is important and we do not want to ever be negative about the subject as it is wonderful. The more fully developed mediums we have, the better proof we are able to give that no one ever dies, we never cease to exist; we continue to love and live in the natural state of spirit beyond the earth plane.

Mediumship deserves respect just as any other teaching tool we have. One does not go into it lightly or unprepared. The Universe does not read intentions. It only hears thought. If you keep saying that you want to hear spirit, see spirit or talk with spirit, then if you study and work diligently to learn, there is a good possibility that you will develop those qualities.

Do you know how to protect yourself or say NO to spirit? If you knew a person on this side of life who was pushy or controlling, they will be the same way when they get to the spirit side of life. If you draw that type of entity to you do you know what to do?

Just as in life, we need to cultivate our friends and it is no different with spirit. We need to cultivate our relationship with those on the other side, drawing only those of the highest vibrations. Work with Infinite Intelligence, the God Force, asking for only the highest good to always come to you or you may attract a lower intelligence who can cause you much mischief.

This is one of the reasons for a development class with a trusted and knowledgeable teacher. We are taught how to call in protection and through study and protection we become sensitive enough to feel when spirit is around and to discern between positive or negative vibrations and what to do if the wrong type should attempt to come through.

If you are having a lot of problems or negativity in your life, this is not the time to attempt to work with spirit. Your vibrations will be low and you can attract lower energy entities. This would be the time to work directly with the God Force to help you resolve the issues going on in your life.

A few guidelines are:

  1. Unless mediumship is desired for serious use to help others, one should probably not seek development at all.
  2. Common sense precautions involved are keeping a level head, exercising patience, exhibiting unselfishness and sincerity and being desirous of good spiritual counsel and fellowship.
  3. Elevated spirits do not require mediums to surrender themselves and their reason. They advise that every new thought should be tested and rejected if not in accordance with good reasoning.
  4. Humility is a distinguishing feature of all true greatness and wisdom. Attempt diligently to remove the I—your ego—from any message work. Do not try to interpret anything you give. Simply give what you get, and do not ever try to embellish what you are giving.
  5. Mediums should not permit love of approval or desire for success to lead them from the strict path of integrity.
  6. Avoid extremes; have care, patience and perseverance cooperating with spirit but not yielding to slavish service or being swayed by flattery.
  7. Lastly, continue in the desire of knowledge and self improvement.

Trusting in the Infinite Intelligence of the God Force will never lead you wrong.
